Wildflower Paradise – Spring Blooms Guide
Come spring, Mallacoota’s bushland lights up with bursts of colour. From delicate orchids to bold banksias, the town’s walking trails become a living gallery of native wildflowers — many of which are hard to spot anywhere else in Victoria. If you're visiting between September and November, bring your walking shoes and a camera.
Where to See Wildflowers in Mallacoota
- Double Creek Nature Walk: A gentle track with a mix of shaded gullies and sunny openings — perfect for spotting small orchids, native peas, and trigger plants
- Betka River to Bastion Point: Combines wildflower viewing with coastal views; look for yellow everlastings and purple flag lilies
- Genoa Peak Walk: Slightly more challenging, but rewards you with high-altitude species and spectacular views — wear good shoes
Photography Tips
Wildflowers are small, so get low and shoot in soft light — early mornings or overcast days are ideal. Avoid harsh midday sun, and don’t pick the flowers (many are protected).
Best Time to Visit
